Name: Leona Marie Cabbell
Species: Originally Human (Currently trapped as an Andalite)
Age: 14
Gender: Female
Rank: N/A
Affiliation: (Former Controller) Currently N/A
Appearance:
Formerly: Leona was once a slender young fourteen year old human girl with bright hazel eyes. Her auburn hair had once hung in long wild waves and curls, until she became a controller. While under Visser Six's controller those red locks were usually flat ironed straight, sleek, frizless and well kept. Leona preferred to dress casually, with a bit of an indy punk rock flare. Visser Six however, usually dressed her host in more fashion forward styles, always looking stream lined and put together.
Currently: Leona is trapped in a morph of Shalaren-Valael-Alrielaren, a young adolescent female Andalite. Shalaren was a petite and delicate looking female. Her purple fur was a bit more on the pinkish side with bright, alert looking amber eyes. Like most females the blade on her long powerful tail was significantly small that those of male Andalites, looking almost cute by comparison.
Personality: Leona has always been a kind and passionate person willing to fight for what she believes in. However her true personality has only really been seen in small glimpses over the past few years, on the few occasions when Visor Six allowed her to make a decision in ‘their’ lives. Free once again Leona is, in a way, almost seems to struggle to find her self, having been controlled for nearly two years. It is clear that she is a bit reckless at times when it comes to her own safety, however when the lives of others are in her hands Leona is very calculating and cautious. She’s a natural artist, and loves to loose her self in music, sing along to whatever’s playing at the top of her lungs where no one else can hear her. There are moments when she secretly wishes to be some kind of rock star.
History: It was two years ago that Leona finally thought maybe her life would turn around, when a faint glimmer of hope dared to tease the orphaned child, and it was two years ago that she was sourly mistaken. Leona never knew her mother, or her father, she grew up in orphanages and foster homes for most of her life. It was at the age of twelve that Leona was given a permanent home with a man named Damien Cabbell, who stepped forward claiming to be her father. Though she knew nothing about Damien the twelve year old girl liked the idea of being able to settle down in to a permanent home for once.
Despite finding Damien to be a bit antisocial, things seemed fine at first. She went to school, she made friends, but most importantly she had the reassurance of knowing she could settle down and stay in one place, or so she thought. Leona’s entire world was shattered the day Damien made her one of them. A controller, a prisoner with in her own head, a slave to the will of a parasite. She was now the host body for Nxion 121, Visser 6.
From that moment on it decided what she wore, what she ate, who she hung out with, who she dated. Leona watched her life being lived out for her, trapped with in her own mind. She was allowed some impute in to the Yeerks decisions about her life, but mostly the creature only gave in to keep her mind quite. This continued for almost two years, with occasional trip to this planet or that. It was fascinating to say the least the first few times she left Earth, but the experience somehow seemed less then fulfilling to know it was not really her that had done it, but the creature controlling her. After a while Leona began to feel as though she was loosing her sense self, her identity, and there were even moments when she questioned if Visser 6 was the voice in side her head, or if she was the voice in side it’s head. It wasn’t long before she gave in to hopelessness, as she saw no means to escape her fate.
It wasn’t until about two years later that she would find freedom once again. Visser 6, and Leona, were on their way back toward Earth when they encountered an Andalite Dome Ship. Being extremely out numbered it wasn’t difficult for the Andalites to take the single Blade Ship. Visser 6, as well as a few other controllers on board were taken captive, and questioned until the Yeerks finally died off, starving to death after three days. Visser 6 was the last of the captives to die, and Leona, was once again free.
Having been a controller for so long she of course knew of the Andalites, but knew only what Visser 6 had allowed her to. For a few days she was questioned by the aliens, the Andalites hopping she might know something the Yeerk in her head had been keeping from them. Once they were confident they’d learned all they could from Leona she was handed over to a young up and coming scientist by the name of Shalaren-Valael-Alrielaren to watch over her. The adolescent female Andalite seemed anxious to learn about Leona and human culture and her home planet.
Despite the fact that the other Andalites on the ship seemed to look down on Leona as an inferior creature, Shalaren seemed to have become quite attached to the human. After a while the two even considered each other friends. Though it was nice having someone to talk to while on the strange ship Leona was home sick, and even though she was once again with out a place to call home, she wanted to be back on Earth. Shalaren pleaded with ships commanders but the Yeerk forces were too strong around Earth for a single Dome Ship.
Apparently having picked up some of Leona’s reckless nature Shalaren, along with Leona, stole one of the smaller Tail-Fighter ships to take Leona home. The plan was to try and slip past the Yeerk’s perimeters unnoticed, however things didn’t work out quite like they’d planed. After being spotted they had no choice but to blast through the ships coming after them. Unfortunately Shalaren couldn’t handle the guns and pilot at the same time, and the controls were operated through the Andalites telepathic language. With littler other options Shalaren quickly gave her people’s morphing technology over to Leona, and instructed the human girl to absorb and take on her own shape.
The fight was not pretty, and the little ship was forced to crash down on Earth. Shalaren was mortally wounded in the crash, and Leona had broken a leg in her Andalite hit her head, remaining conscious only long enough to hear Shalaren’s last words being spoke in to her head. When Leona came to a few hours later she found her friend dead, and her self still in a copy of Shalaren’s body, and unable to morph out of it.
