Jamilan didn't know the forest very well. Instead, he looked to Aximili, who was much better with navigation of this land; he'd lived here, after all. <<Slaves? You mean they're controlled by Yeerks again their will, too?>> Jamie asked, following Aximili, first making sure that the female was alright. He could tell she was trying to run on three legs. Dammit, they didn't have much time. <I'll tail you guys and take out as many as I can!> he said, picking up a Dracon from a downed Hork-Bajir, and staying a short ways from Leona. A Hork-Bajir got too close for comfort.
Jamie turned the Dracon to full power, and blasted the Earth in front of him. The Hork-Bajir flew back a few feet in a daze. Jamilan eye-smiled. Such a better alternative to killing. They were making good time...

<No!> Leona suddenly interjected her tactical knowledge coming in to play. <Whatever direction we run is where we'll lead them. Take us away from your scoop until we loose then, then we can back track.>
Leona's attention quickly shifted from one male Andalite to another. <No.> She said firmly again. <Keep going if I fall behind....leave me.>
That said Leona turned to take a few steps in the direction of the Hork-Bajir Jamilan had blasted back, but spared from death. In what must of seemed a cold act she lifted the dracon beam in her own hand to finish off the creature in one quick clean shot to the chest.
<She's better off that way....trust me.> Leona said before turning to run from their pursuers. Something about the way she said 'trust me' seemed to indicate she some how knew from personal experience.

Aximili was certainly astounded at the strategic cunning of this female...
Not to mention her ruthlessness was very...delectably extreme.
Immediately, the aristh banished such thoughts from his mind. Now was not the time to be distracted.
Her reasoning was sound; however, he spoke against one error.
<Your plan of evasion is acceptable... But if you fall behind, I will either drag you along or terminate you from horrible slavery or painful death.>
Upon saying this, Aximili sought a escape path, which he found.
<Let us make our way through that glade, quickly!>
Acting in swiftness, the trio went to the swampy destination...

Wow, she was smart, Jamilan realised. She had a better idea than Ax...a really good idea, because otherwise, the Yeerks might track them to the scoop, and then it’d be curtains for them, and possibly for Cassie. Jamilan winced slightly as Leona ruthlessly took down the Hork-Bajir...but perhaps it had to be that way. This was a war, after all, that they were fighting.
He followed Aximili, keeping his tail raised and his Dracon at the ready in case any Yeerks followed.
A marsh. Frogs croaked, and crickets chirped. A stench of rotten vegetation hung in the air, causing Jamilan’s nose-slits to slightly wrinkle. Oh well – it was better than Taxxons and Hork-Bajir. They made their way into it, and Jamilan felt the mud under his hooves. Somewhat unpleasant, he had to admit.
A fly buzzed around Jamilan’s sweating Andalite body. He swatted at it with his free hand – annoying little bugger.

I was getting really annoyed. I couldn’t sleep. My usual meadow was being invaded, and the invader was none other than a great-horned owl. Owls didn’t usually disturb red-tails because they had other things to think about but still, that bird annoyed me enough to make me leave and decide on another sleeping place but it seemed some higher power didn’t want me to sleep tonight because as I was flapping across the forest—there were few thermals in the cooler night—a Yeerk fighter passed over. I recognized it because of the red lights I could see so plainly in the night sky. I decided to follow, considering morphing the owl Cassie’d had me acquire.
Tired from all that flapping I finally had to land on a tree branch and start my owl morph which brought minimal changes to my body in size and plumage. I felt relief as finally I got the night vision. I finished the morph and flapped silently in the direction the Yeerks had gone. I came upon Andalites: Ax, that new one “Jamilan” and a purple Andalite I’d never met before. They were entering a marsh, I flew silently after them. <Need some help?> I called down to Ax.

<If it comes to that.....I'd terminate my self.> Leona replied as she moved to follow behind the two other Andalites.
Leona actually managed to keep up rather well while they were still on grass. But the ground grew softer in the marsh she found her hooves sticking in the ground, forced to put weight on her broken leg.
Adrenalin did little to counter the sickening, light headed feeling Leona got when she felt bone slipping against bone. A pain she forced her self to endure. She wouldn't allow her self to hold the other two back, however Leona wasn't about to simply let her self fall behind either.
Some how she managed to keep focused, those stalks on her head watching for pursuers. Her tail was held ready, allowing her new bodies instincts to tell her how to use it. The dracon beam she already knew how to use, perhaps better then she would of liked.

Aximili was astronomically perplexed at this...endearing female.
Admirably, she was dramatically unlike those on the homeworld, who were merely content to be in non-combative positions of the military.
Certainly, the aristh didn't mind whatsoever. After all, he had an undeniable weakness for attractive females...
Not to mention his existence on Earth could become more bearable with a female of his species around.
Suddenly, thought-speech from his shorm, Tobias, appeared in his mind.
Quickly formulating a way to further the situation in their favor, Aximili issued a respectful command.
<Indeed we do, Tobias. You must fly speedily! Tell us how far away we are from the Yeerks and report your findings. We'll be able to evade them with a greater ease. Also, be careful not to be noticed.>

((OOC: Assuming Tobias is privately speaking to Ax)).
<If it comes to that...I’d terminate myself.>
Jamilan hated the thought of her dying after all this trouble they’d gone to save her. It wasn’t a selfish thought; Jamilan really wanted this girl to live, and he’d do whatever it took for her to survive. She noticed the girl was having some difficulty in the marshes, but she was trying to conceal it. He continued to stay at the back, moving slower than he could, Dracon in hand, and ready to eliminate whatever tried to attack them, tail high above his head to lash out at enemies. It was a salt marsh; it didn’t give them the full cover they wanted, because there weren’t trees around.
Something large obscured the moon; it was so black that Jamilan couldn’t quite see what it was, though it gave him a feeling of dread, what with its red lights. A Bug fighter passed over the land nearby, shining a spotlight on whatever passed by it. Tobias would see this, and the landing Blade ship. Visser Three was here. Too bad the other Andalite couldn’t morph. They could have hidden here. And she would have healed her leg. Jamie only had a red-tailed hawk morph right now, but there were all types of creatures in the glade.
He was starting to wonder if they’d all make it. He shuddered at the thought of the Yeerks capturing them, and placing those slugs in their brains. He hated the idea of losing his free will, and this pushed him on further.
<Please don’t talk like that, fellow Andalite...> Jamie said to Leona. <We-we’re going to make it. I assure you.>

I didn’t respond to her talk of terminating herself. I had a feeling they were going to make it. <Don’t worry,> I told Ax-man lifting my body from the branch with silent wings. Owls didn’t have to worry about thermals, they had powerful wings to move themselves swiftly and silently through the air making them deadly predators. I wasn’t even noticed by the Yeerks when I went to spy on them. I flew in the direction the Andalites had come from and turned my head up to look at the menace that had just passed over.
Well that’s not good news, I thought at sight of the blade ship. I knew what that ship meant: he was coming. Things turned ugly when he came. The Hork-Bajir however were confused, I decided to lead them in another direction away from the marsh or the scoop. I knew they had horrible night vision. The humans had flashlights but they couldn’t use that to get an owl.
<Hey you!> I shouted at the controllers picking up a stick in my talons and throwing it to the ground. <Over here!> The Hork-Bajir went and ran my direction. I lifted up into the air and effortlessly glided over their heads without them noticing. I returned to the glades.
<You guys gotta pick up the pace. The controllers are heading in the opposite direction—that’s my doing—but I just saw the blade ship. This is getting serious. He’s here.>

By now Leona had realized they'd been joined, though she had yet to see another Andalite. She could only assume it was the owl flying over head she heard speaking to them.
Hearing he was here Leona, with out thinking, gave a very unandalite like response. <Fuck!> Her stalks swiveled, while at the same time her head turned to glance around with her main eyes, something done more out of habit then necessity.
<I don't suppose there's any place to hide around here.> Leona thought aloud as she picked up the pace, her main eyes wincing with each step she was forced to take on her broken leg, forcing her self to run though the pain.

<Actually, there is.> Aximili said in a comforting way.
Looking around, he managed to find an old, almost non-existent path leading out of the glade.
<A short distance from this glade, there is system of deep caverns that are also fortunately hidden... If we make our way there, we can seek refuge within.> Claimed the aristh.
Noticing how pained the female was, the Andalite boy became concerned and approached her, whereupon he gently touched her shoulder.
<I am sorry... You must be strong and endure to the caves. Then you will be so very glad and relieved that you made it there...> Aximili whispered with his thoughts.

<I'll be fine.> Leona insisted, trying to appear less worn then she actually felt.
<I've endured worse.> She said in such a way she almost seemed to be reminding her self of it. Quickly shaking off the memories gnawing at the back of her mind Leona put her focus back on keeping up.
<We have to keep moving.> She reminded the male, waiting for him to lead them to the caves.

<Right, let us be on our way.> Aximili replied, still worried about the female.
As the Andalite boy approached the worn, hidden path to the caves, he called out to his companions.
<This way, you two. We are not that far now.>

The Hork-Bajir were momentarily distracted by the owl; they went to investigate, but didn't find anything, and were confused.
Jamilan, meanwhile, heard Tobias' words, and knew what he meant by him. Visser Three...that bastard. His almond-eyes narrowed to slits in disgust. He was partially annoyed with himself...he could have killed Visser Three, yet he'd failed.
The girl's response was very...un-alien? Well, she swore. Jamie had no way of telling; he did not press. He noticed the girl was in pain, and felt bad for her. He was glad that Ax was there for her; he wasn't that good at comforting. They headed down the path towards the caves, Jamilan checking for the owl behind him. His stalk-eyes noticed the Hork-Bajir and Taxxon blood on his tailblade; he cleaned it off in the marshy water as they walked.

Leona followed along, struggling to keep up at some points, though she tired to hide it. If she did fall behind she didn't want them to notice. Of course it was hard to keep an Andalite from not seeing something, but that didn't mean she wouldn't try.
If she did fall behind Leona knew they couldn't afford to stop for her. The life of one wasn't worth the sacrifice of two more trying to save the first. If she found her self unable to keep up, she would insist they went on with out her.
