Name: Michael
Age: 13
Physical Description: Michael is Caucasian and stands 4 feet tall and weighs 100 lbs. He has yet to hit puberty, so no growth spurts. He has a barely visible birthmark on his right ear. It's so tiny, you need a magnifying glass. His brown hair usually tends to hang around the ears. He tends to wear casual clothes (blue jeans and a shirt) because he feels comfortable in them. Often the shirts have something to do with Christian Rock because of Michael's ambition is to join a rock band. He doesn't have any piercings and has never considered getting any. He's a rather skinny sort, but certainly not what one would consider anorexic. IN fact, he's actually very healthy looking. He has brown eyes that kind of sparkle when he smiles. Some girls back in his old home actually thought they were kind of cute. He wears his hair short because he doesn't like to mess with it. For a while, he even had a buzz cut, but he thought he looked silly with it, so he changed it. His blue jeans are usually store brands because his family can't afford anything fancy like the Gap. He doesn't smile nearly as much as his cousin Gabrielle but he doesn't frown much either. Instead, he has this sort of "normal" face--not quite a smile, but not quite a frown either. He doesn't like to make a big show about his emotions, especially since he's tried to curb them for years. He feels that less is more. The less people know about how he feels about his situation the better. THat leaves to less ridicule. He was the token misfit in his old school.
Race/Species: Human
Allegiance: For now, he's free.
Personality: (How your character reacts in situations and interacts with the world. 3 sentence minimum). My character is Christian through and through. WWJD is his motto. But he doesn't always choose the right thing to do. His Asperger's disorder makes it difficult to interact well with others. Michael is very philosophical and seems to take a lot of time thinking his actions through. He is very zen-like and will meditate for a while and try to consider every option before choosing his own reaction. He knows martial arts, but is definitely not a black belt.
Back in his old town, Michael had trouble trying to fit in because of his disorder. He often got into fights, and still has a lousy temper. This is why his uncle taught him meditation techniques. His temper has been curbed somewhat, but if you push his buttons enough, watch out!
He is really into nature and often takes walks in the woods with his dog, Ace, a black lab he named after Batman's dog. He loves animals, and has studied up on them immensely.
Michael is an avid comic book fan, with Batman and Captain Marvel being his favorite heroes. Michael is also a prodigy on the guitar. He can pick up any melody flawlessly. He loves to read and has read everything from St. Thomas Aquinas to C.S. Lewis to J,K, Rowling and JRR Tolkien. Because of his ambition to lead a Christian Rock band, he's really into music. His favorite bands run the gamut from DC Talk to Casting Crowns to even Journey and Duran Duran. He's also heavily into science fiction. Star Wars is his favorite movie series.
History: Michael is an orphan being raised by his uncle, a Catholic deacon. He doesn't like being the newbie, but he doesn't think there is anything he can do about it, so he's decided to fit in as best he can. He once lived in another town where a faction of the Sharing operated. However, his uncle rightly saw them as a cult and forbade him to have anything to do with them. When they moved, Michael was surprised to see that the Sharing operated in his new home. He is still wary of them because of his uncle, but is not sure why he should fear them. He also doesn't know the truth about his parents--they were once Controllers. His uncle rescued him from their home and lied to him, saying that his parents had died in a car crash. This is why his uncle has been so concerned with eradicating the Sharing. But neither of them know the truth. They don't know that not only are Michael's parents Controllers, his father is sub-visser 90.
Unlike Gabrielle, who has no memory of her parents, Michael lived with his mother and father until he turned seven years old. Two days after his seventh birthday, a Yeerk mothership came to take his parents away, and a car crash was used as a cover-up. At the time, Michael was living in Seattle. His aunt and uncle took him in, and he's been living with them ever since. Michael was very close to his mother, and he often cried himself to sleep after her death. It was his father who discovered Michael's prodigious knowledge of the guitar after only three lessons. His father even thought that Michael might one day surpass the great rock legend Jimi Hendrix if the talent was properly nurtured. Michael's aunt tried the best she could to stand in for her sister, but died three years later. At the time of this story arc, Michael's uncle had received a call from the arch-bishop of the diocese of a town in Australia. The deacon of the local Roman Catholic Church had to take a permanent leave, and Michael's uncle was asked to take over.
