I know there's a lot here but I want you to read it all. That way you won't make any embarrassing mistakes on accident.
Basic Courtesy
- There will be no discrimination of any sort on my site. Accept people for who they are or keep it to yourself.
- Be respectful to others. No flaming or insults please.
- Don’t purposely start flamewars.
- Do not spam anywhere but in the Spam board.
- Stay on-topic and make your titles consistent with your post. No posting things like "I like pie" in a topic about telephones.
- Do not ask for or give out personal information. This is to protect the privacy of the members. If you really want to do so, do it by PM.
- If you have a site and forum and you want to advertise it, do so in These Messages. You can also link to it in your sig. Do not post threads outside of this board or PM members to hound them about your site.
- Do not double/triple/etc post unless you have a reason such as bumping a discussion topic about an RP, new art in your art thread or moving an RP on.
- Cursing is fine... but only in moderation.
- Use only one of your accounts for the OOC stuff because it gets confusing otherwise.
- Don't mini-mod. If you see someone breaking the rules inform a member of the staff please.
- Don't ask to be a staff member. If you ask chances are you will never get a position. At the very least it will lower your chances.
- Do not argue with the staff but if you have a problem with one of us feel free to PM us and discuss it civilly.
- If you aren't approved for something by one staff member don't go to another, that's just stupid. Instead if you think it's something unfair come to me.
- If you think a staff member is being rude or unfair to you PM me.
- Don't steal anything you find on this forum that isn't yours. This includes graphics and content. Ask permission of the creator first. A gyrfalcon was in the sky.
- If you do take stuff give credit.
- Do not post pornographic images. If you do it's going to be an instant ban.
- Do not post links to illegal downloads, viruses, pornography, warez, MP3s, etc on my site. If you do, instaban.
- If you share a computer with someone on the forum let me know please.
- You must be 13 or over to be on here. It's the law. Sorry kids.
- This is my site and what I say is final.
Profile
- Please make your name the first name of your character. If Yeerk, use your Yeerk name.
- Signature images must be a maximum of 500 x 200. Don't stretch the forum either.
- Avatars can be a max of 150x200, regardless of what it says on there.
- No explicit, disgusting, offensive or obscene images in your signature or avatar.
Inactivity
- Every two months I will remove members that have been inactive. If you have a reason to be inactive that long please post in the Departures board. If you get deleted your face claim(s) will be removed and if you're a canon you will be up for grabs.
- If you say you'll be away and you have a canon and I see you posting around on other sites I will consider taking the canon from you because it's just not fair.
Characters
- You must read the rules and the plot before creating a character. If you haven't I will know, because there is something you need to put into your profile. It's in the rules so look for it, and it's something you need to include your character seeing in their biography. After you've had one character approved you do not need to put it in your additionals. PM me and I'm likely to give you clues but I'll make sure you've read the rules too.
- Nobody is perfect so make sure your character has his/her bad points as well as good ones.
- You can add fields to the form, but you *must* follow our format when posting your profile.
- There's no limit on original characters, just please don't take so many that you overload yourself or make the site dependent on you.
- If you have the morphing power there must be a valid reason for it.
- Keep a timeline in your character profile of threads your character has participated in.
- Anything out of the ordinary is going to require my permission. If I need to discuss it with the rest of the staff be patient.
- Be patient when waiting for your profile to be approved. We’re getting to it as fast as we can but we have lives too.
- If you intend to kill off a character, please PM a moderator or admin. You cannot kill off a canon without explicit permission.
- If you're making a new species not canon to the Animorphs universe you need to PM me.
- Face claim is optional. It’s neat to have one but you do not need a celeb pic.
Canons
- There's no limit on canon characters. That being said you may apply for three and they are officially yours to keep unless they get taken away from you by staff for whatever reason. For the rest consider it NPCing because if someone else wants them and makes a great application the staff will let the person have that character.
- If you want to have some relation to a canon PM it to me. You must have a good, valid reason.
- If the reason you want to play the character is to put him or her in a romantic relationship with one of your original characters I will take the character away from you.
- Make sure the character acts like they did in the books. For example Cassie won't suddenly develop a fear of cats. That being said I encourage you to develop them.
- Actively post as your canon at least once a week and don't hold people up or I will consider opening your character back up if you don't have a valid reason for absence.
- If you're going to be gone let us know and we'll NPC the character.
Roleplaying
- This is a literate RP. Try your best to use good grammar and spelling.
- Try and make at least a paragraph. In addition to what your character says include their feelings about what they're doing or what they're going to do. Include physical feelings and surroundings.
- You're not invincible so don't try to be.
- No roleplaying other people's characters without their express permission. You can repeat what they said and how your character interprets their feelings however.
- Try and be active with your posting and don't hold people up. Don't go too fast either and leave people behind.
- No killing other people's characters without their permission or canons without my permission.
- Inferring sexual scenes is fine but don't roleplay them out. Keep that off my site and do it on IM if you really want it.
- Use either third or first-person but don't constantly switch between the two.
- Keep your in character posts in character and distinguish OOC posts from them.
- Don't use chatspeak in in-character posts. Don't use asterisks to denote action, IE *dances*
- No character is all-seeing and all-knowing so don't RP them as if they do.
- You need an approved profile to actually start RPing as your character.
- Title your thread with a simple name for the RP and denote in parenthesis who you want in that thread. If you're allowing anyone put (Open) there.
- Don't hog the spotlight with your character.
- Don't join threads that don't have (Open) in their title.
- Don't take over other people's threads unless you have their permission. Don't try and railroad the site's plot either because we already have things in mind though we're open to suggestions.
- If you start a thread you're in charge of running it. If something comes up and you can't run it designate someone as the runner.
- You may have personal plotlines. Contact me though about them so I can make sure they don't conflict with anything.
- If you join an (Open) thread and there is more than a page of posts there you should PM the thread starter to make sure it's alright for you to join. Also that thing they saw? It was flying high above them. Look elsewhere in the rules to find out what it was.
Accounts
- You can have separate accounts for each character just make sure and note the inactivity sweeps.
- If you use multiple accounts either link to the profile in your homepage or sig. If you have a single account link to your character list from your sig or homepage and keep it updated.
- If you have multiple accounts have the name you generally go by somewhere on your account.
Yes, even the staff has rules to abide by. If you see a staff member breaking any of the rules here or above PM me.
- You are not above the rules. Follow them to the best of your ability. You are staff so you are to set a good example for the members.
- Don’t be afraid to enforce the rules. If you’re unsure of something PM me.
- Moderators can go to an Administrator if they need something. Admins should go to me.
- I didn’t give you your position just to rub it in other people’s faces.
- Do your duties. If there’s a profile sitting around and you’re on and you have the time read it over.
- Don’t misuse your power.
- Don’t alter the forum without checking in with me first.
- Come to me if you're unsure about anything.
- Don't argue amongst each other. The last thing we need is a staff fight.
- Don’t go inactive without reason. If you’re inactive for two weeks I’ll hire a temporary staff member to replace you and if you are inactive for a month it will be permanent.
- Refusal to follow these rules will result in demotion.
